An interview with Jon Syverson of Daughters
at Fubar in St. Louis, MO.
Jon talks about Daughters return,
being labeled as many types of music,
and gives some advice to young bands.
It was a 33 degree rainy night in St. Louis where a full crowd was crammed into Fubar. At this venue it’s rare to see so many people in attendance for any event, but Daughters brought in the numbers. There were people driving from Iowa and Indiana just for this show. Daughters is currently on their winter 2019 tour and supporting their widely critically acclaimed return album You Won’t Get What You Want.
Hearing the volume from Lex as he took the stage and started the set with “The Reason They Hate Me” set a lot of people into motion. The front of the crowd looked like water waves as everyone was thrown about and felt the hardcore fans in the crowd start to get wild. The energy of everyone on stage was surpassed by the crowd tonight.
For a noise rock band (or at least I’m referring to them as noise rock since they could fall under so many sub-genres), they came in clear sounding at Fubar. It was how a show at a local venue should be: loud, energetic, and filled with too many people in the same room.
