Thanks to everyone that tuned in live and to all those that made Super Chats. You can click the link above (just below the video replay) to check the Super Chat document to see our decision on everyone’s suggestions.

We had a good night doing this and even though it was the day we lost Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac, hopefully we did a little justice talking about her and Fleetwood Mac during the stream. It had been a few months since the last Rock Coliseum and we promise not to go as long between them until the next one.

SpiritWorld – Deathwestern | Album Review

The best elements of over-the-top cowboys with unrelenting metal. This is the western I can get behind. The guitarwork is killer with amazing grooves and some of the solos and wailing is outstanding. The vocals are strong and biting. This is for fans of Lamb Of God, Mastodon, High On Fire, and just any great metal band. When my biggest complaint is that the album is too short and I want more, you’re doing something right. If the wild west was this metal, get me a time machine to visit it. 9/10.

JINJER Returns to New York City | Photos

JINJER live at Hammerstein Ballroom NYC 11-21-22

What an absolute joy. JINJER was everything I had wanted it to be – a full throttle performance with heart and a ferocity that demands the audience’s full attention. While North American audiences are for the most part detached from the heinous war taking place in Ukraine, I have to give that much more pause and appreciation to Jinjer for coming out and speaking out about it every night. I can’t imagine what each of them is going through (and the same goes for Space of Variations), but the intensity fueled into their performance was flawless in New York City. Tatiana Shmaylyuk’s dynamic vocals were mesmerizing, Roman Ibramkhalilov’s technical guitar work was flawless precision, and the rhythm section of Eugene Abdukhanov on bass and Vlad Ulasevich on drums rounded out the quartet with a pulsing intensity that kept the audience moving through the fifteen-song set.

With this stacked lineup, and partial proceeds going to Ukrainian charity, there’s really no reason not to come out to a night of face-melting metal if the tour is coming to a city near you.

Get your copy of JINJER’s latest album, Wallflowers, here.

JINJER Setlist:
01. Sit Stay Roll Over
02. Teacher, Teacher!
03. Copycat
04. Home Back
05. I Speak Astronomy
06. As I Boil Ice
07. Judgement (& Punishment)
08. Dead Hands Fell No Pain
09. Vortex
10. Who Is Gonna Be The One
11. Sleep of the Righteous
12. Call Me a Symbol
13. Perennial
14. Pisces
15. Captain Clock

I must admit, upon first seeing the lineup for this tour, I thought POD was an interesting choice on an otherwise hard hitting metal lineup. That feeling didn’t really go away throughout the nu-metal veterans’ performance. It’s definitely cool to see POD still out there, rocking the stage, releasing new music and very much on their game. The band sounded great, but I almost feel like the audience wasn’t totally feeling the ambiance change at first. But tried and true hits like “Youth of a Nation” and “Alive” brought out the excitement in the otherwise subdued crowd.

Vended may have only come onto the scene a short two years ago, but the ferocious new comers from Des Moines are already making waves. This is a band who seems to be spreading its wings on the road, so I fully expect to see much more from it over the next several months. Griffin Taylor’s vocals are raw and chockful of power, his stage presence frenetic in such a way that demands attention. Sure, it’d be easy to make comparisons, but I’d rather say that Vended is very much its own entity with a super bright future ahead.

Space of Variations kicked off the night with a blast of heartfelt energy and magnetic stage presence. The Ukrainian metalcore outfit recently released its brand new album IMAGO to the world, and has been kicking up dirt with emotive heavy hitting tunes that translate super well onto the stage. Definitely a band to watch.

Nickelback – Get Rollin’ | Album Review

The latest entry from one of the most comically hated bands ever giving everyone…more of the same. I mean it, Nickelback followed their formula again for every song. The songs all have the same sound as almost every previous album. To the point where many of the songs are almost the exact same length. 3 min 40 seconds. The songs are traditionally formulaic and simple. More songs about driving across state lines and drugs and women and reflecting on the past. It’s 100% nickelback. Nothing has changed. It’s dumb, nothing stands out, but nothing is truly wretched. It’s on par with everything else the band has done for the past 20 years. 5/10.

Disturbed – Divisive | Album Review

Better than 2018’s Evolution but also different than that. There is solid guitarwork and they focus on some short solos, you can hear decent tracks and rhythm in a song like Unstoppable. This is Disturbed at their most political. Making their voices heard on corrupt politicians, cancel culture, etc. The problem? It’s all really dumb. I mean it, this is the vaguest, most simplistic writing about “another bad man” and “you can’t stop us all” type lyrics. The anger in Draiman’s voice doesn’t match what he’s saying. You can’t sound that tough when you are screaming about the ba ba ba bad man. Many songs sound similar and the more you listen, the more you realize it’s shallow in their messages. Hopefully, THAT won’t be too divisive of a statement. 5/10.

Dropkick Murphys St. Patrick’s Day 2023 Tour Dates Announced

Dropkick Murphys are set to wrap up their very special acoustic This Machine…Theater Tour on November 19, but won’t be gone from the road for long as they gear up for their annual St. Patrick’s Day shows. Dropkick Murphys have now announced the full run of dates for Pega Presents…Dropkick Murphys St. Patrick’s Day 2023 Tour. The full-throttle rock tour launches March 1 in Charlotte and culminates with four hometown Boston shows, March 16, 17, 18 & 19. The Rumjacks and Jesse Ahern open most shows.

The DKM St. Patrick’s Day Tour’s hometown shows in Boston include March 16, 17 and 18 at the new MGM Music Hall at Fenway and March 19 at House Of Blues Boston. Very special guests Turnpike Troubadours join Dropkick Murphys for all three shows at MGM Music Hall at Fenway, while Nikki Lane alsojoins the bill on March 16. Tickets for March 17, 18 and 19 are sold out, but a limited number of tickets are still available for the March 16 show, which was added due to fan demand.

Tickets for the newly announced Dropkick Murphys St. Patrick’s Day 2023 Tour shows go on sale this Friday, November 18 at 10:00 AM local time in most markets. Visit www.DropkickMurphys.com to purchase tickets.

Dropkick Murphys’ current theater tour and new album This Machine Still Kills Fascists have received widespread praise from fans and media. In a recent show review, Americana Highways noted: “The record itself, backed by [Woody] Guthrie’s kindred, rebellious spirit, hit as hard as anything the Murphys have ever done…Throughout the show, the new songs hit as well as the old favorites.”

In a review of the new album This Machine Still Kills FascistsNo Depression summed up Dropkick Murphys’ connection not only to Guthrie’s lyrics but to his working class ethos: “No current act has done more to preserve and advance the legacy of Woody Guthrie…Nearly 60 years since his death, the struggles of working men and women and political oppression continue unabated. Those in need remain unheard by people in power. But much like Woody GuthrieDropkick Murphys are still out there fighting the good fight.”

As a special bonus for fans, on November 19 at 9 pm CTDropkick Murphys will live stream the last night of their current This Machine…Theater Tour from Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, best known as the home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 to 1974. Tickets for this special live stream event are available at www.DropkickMurphys.com and include a 72-hour replay window.

Fans can also check out Dropkick Murphys online via their upcoming SiriusXM Outlaw Country Session, which premieres November 18 at 8:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM PT. Visit http://siriusxm.us/DKM to hear the performance.

Dropkick Murphys‘ album This Machine Still Kills Fascists (released via the band’s Dummy Luck Music / [PIAS]) is unlike anything they’ve done to date: A full album of songs that bring Woody Guthrie’s words to life. Not a tribute album or a collection of covers, This Machine Still Kills Fascists is a collaboration between Dropkick Murphys and Woody Guthrie – artists separated by time and space, but connected by a common philosophy – to create something entirely new.

Order the album here: https://dropkick-murphys.ffm.to/7reo1k8
